Because i did not watch doctor who when john pertwit etc. was on it i don't know much about the master?

as there is talk about him comming back in the new epasodes i like to know a bit about him was he a time lord did he have his own tardis.?Because i did not watch doctor who when john pertwit etc. was on it i don't know much about the master?
As people have said, the Master is another timelord, and an absolute genius. He was at college with the Doctor (along with other timelords that have appeared, including the Rani and Dax). He has his own tardis, and in recent years, has taken to using a particularly nasty handheld weapon called a tissue compression eliminator (basically it turned victims into doll-sized corpses). He first came into the show as the ';Professor Moriarty'; to the Sherlock Holmes of John Pertwee's doctor, and allied himself to all kinds of would-be alien invaders. Originally played by an actor called Roger Delgado, he was written out when Delgado tragically died. He came back played by a different actor in the Tom Baker years, planning to overthrow timelord society, but was again defeated. Finally, he came back properly with new actor Anthony Ainley at the end of Tom Baker's time, and was responsible for the death of the fourth Doctor. He continued to return throughout the times of the next three Doctors, and was the main villain in the final story of the original televised series, ';Survival'; (Soon to be released on BBC DVD). They brought him back AGAIN for the only televised story of the Eighth Doctor, this time played by American Eric Roberts.

The ninth Doctor of course was supposed to be the ';the last of the timelords';, the rest having perished in the Time War. But yes, there are pretty strong rumours that he'll be returning at the end of the new series (the fact that the final episode is called ';Last of the timelords'; seems a bit of a giveaway). And as there has this year been heightened speculation that David Tennant might be leaving, the question is whether the Master will be taking another of the Doctor's lives.Because i did not watch doctor who when john pertwit etc. was on it i don't know much about the master?
that would be difficult - John Pertwee is dead!!
When the original actor played the Master it was being mussed that he was Dr Who's brother. This has never even been hinted at in the show - although the Doctor mentioned he had a brother the day. Before this revelation was to come out that actor died, and as far as I know so did the idea.
Dear Gizmo,

Yes the Master is another Time Lord. He has his own TARDIS and is very similar to the Doctor, except he is usually the villian. I have not seen the new Doctors the last one I did see was not that good, but then I am a huge Tom Baker Fan. and then I also liked the 3rd Doctor.
The Master was an evil psycopathic timelord who was the doctors enemy. His tardis worked better and he had more control over his regeneration, so he always looks similar. Alway has a beard and dark hair.. Last time I saw his tardis it was a pretty classical column.
Yes the Master is an evil timelord - he has his own tardis and it still has the ability to morph into different shapes to disguise itself unlike the Doctor's. The last time I saw it it was a classical statue.
He's another Timelord, and The Doctor's enemy.

His Tardis always works properly - the chameleon circuit lets him disguise it as whatever he wants, not a police box.

The Master is always up to some evil scheme. Think of him as Moriarty to the Doctor as Sherlock Holmes.
The Master is a Time Lord too, the Doctor's rival you could say, his nemesis. He did have a tardis (for some reason, his looked like a Greek or Roman pillar) but it was always broken so he was always chasing the Doctor for his.

As a child, I liked the idea behind Dr. Who but always thought the special effects and monsters were rubbish, so I didn't take much notice of it. (I was a child of the 70s by the way, so had Tom Baker as 'my' Doctor.

I much prefer Chris Ecclestone and David Tennant though.
